Central Garden & Pet is looking for a Finance Manager to join our Segrest Inc. business unit. The Finance Manager is an integral member of the Finance Team; responsible for managing, measuring, reporting, and understanding Segrest operation and seeking opportunities to enhance profitability for the Pet Segment. This role will support the General Manager/CFO in safeguarding performance through evaluation and analysis of key metrics.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- The Finance Manager will be responsible for financial reporting, planning and analysis; ensuring the financial health of the organization.
- Creates, manages and implements the annual budget; following the organization's budget policies and guidelines
- Monitors actual performance against estimates and prepares interim budgets
- Develops monthly and quarterly business reviews for presentation in Excel and Power Point.
- Provides guidance to managers in financial reporting objectives and standards to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Report on customer and product profitability for the Segrest Inc. Team to enhance profitability.
- Advises and interfaces with executive management on financial activities.
- Responsible for reporting any finance issues to authorized personnel for correction.
- Works closely with department personnel, managers, and supervisors throughout the Company
- Monitor/audit and develop Segrest Inc. finance team to ensure that appropriate accounting methodologies and practices are routine, and the books are closed, and detailed management reporting is performed on a timely and accurate basis.
- Lead and develop Segrest Inc. accounting/finance team.
- Facilitate financial changes in conjunction with Company’s transformational activities.
- Participate in ensuring Central is a compelling place to work.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Manage cash flow and forecasting.
- Oversee the accounting team to ensure proper maintenance of all accounting systems and month end close functions.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
- Minimum 7 years of relevant work experience in Finance and at least 3 years managment experience.
- Advanced degree or finance related certification (e.g. CPA) a plus.
- Previous experience in managing customer trade reporting and spending analysis from gross to net sales is desirable.
- Proficient in various Microsoft applications or useful analytical software.
- MS Dynamics/Great Plains experience a plus.
- Use a variety of computer software and media to produce reports/correspondence.
- Maintain the integrity of confidential business information.
- Attention to detail, quality, accuracy, timeliness, reliability, and thoroughness of work performed.
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing and develop strong working relationships.
- Plan and organize work effectively; analyze problems, propose reasonable solutions.
